Waking up groggy? Before you reach for that second cup of coffee, try these 5 energising yoga poses. They take less than 10 minutes and will leave you feeling awake, clear-headed, and ready to take on the day.

1. Cat-Cow (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana)
Start on all fours and gently flow between arching and rounding your spine for 1 minute. This wakes up the entire spine, stimulates digestion, and gets your breath moving.
2. Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
Hold for 5 breaths. This full-body stretch increases blood flow to the brain, relieves tension in the hamstrings and back, and gives you an instant energy boost.
3. Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana)
Step one foot forward into a deep lunge. Hold for 5 breaths per side. Opens the hip flexors that tighten overnight and wakes up your legs for the day ahead.
4. Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I)
A powerful, confidence-boosting pose. Hold for 5 breaths each side. It fires up the legs, opens the chest, and ignites your inner strength for the day.
5. Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana)
Finish seated, folding gently over your legs for 1 minute. This calms the nervous system while still stretching the entire back body — the perfect balance of energy and calm to start your morning.
Try this sequence every morning for one week and notice the difference. Your body — and your mind — will thank you. 🌅
